Egg drop french onion soup

Okay, we couldn't make up our minds witch we wanted so I did this for lunch.
4 cups beef broth
1 onion slice very thin
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg, beaten
Cook the onions in the butter, over low heat, til they are browned. Add the broth and simmer 5 to 7 minutes. While stirring add the egg.
